summer stroll for epilepsy

Do you enjoy exercise, but don't care for the timed race type structure of most organized walks or runs? Well, the Summer Stroll for Epilepsy is just for you!

Epilepsy is a brain disorder in which a person has repeated seizures (convulsions) over time. Seizures are episodes of disturbed brain activity that cause changes in attention or behavior.

The Summer Stroll is the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan's biggest fundraising event. With participating in the stroll, you are showing you are committed toward the fight against epilepsy, you are inspiring people to spread epilepsy awareness and empowering people with epilepsy to live productive lives. You can walk on your own or in teams, and collect funds needed to provide the necessary programs/services offered by the Foundation.

With the funds raised, the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan can continue to support those with epilepsy and the ones that care for them by assisting them in managing seizures. They recognize the impact epilepsy has on social and emotional well-being, and they equip people with the information, skills and resources they need to manage epilepsy and minimize it's impact on their daily life. The Foundation also supports research to develop new treatments for epilepsy and eventually find a cure.

Here are the scheduled Stroll dates:

June 2nd -- Celery Flatts - Portage, MI
June 9th -- Detroit Zoo - Detroit, MI
June 16th -- Riverwalk - Grand Rapids, MI

Each location is unique in the things they offer throughout the stroll, but at any location you'll be sure to have a relaxing Stroll all the while helping those who live their lives with epilepsy. To sign up, click here.

If you're not the active type, you can also sign up to volunteer and help run the Stroll by clicking here. They need people to help with things anywhere between handing out water and face painting.

Stay tuned for more ways you can help save the world :)

Be the change. Make the difference.
