beth and locks of love.

After Pic!

I have to tell you about my friend Beth who is just amazing! She is an old Portage Central friend, and has to be one of the nicest people I have ever met. ALWAYS smiling and cares about everyone. AND she has donated her hair not once, not twice...but THREE times to Locks of Love! I always knew she was a great person, but was shocked to find she has done this so many times. I told her I had some catching up to do, with which she replied with "Yes you do!"

Here's what she had to say about donating and why she does it:

"I have sadly known a lot of people and children that have contracted cancer, which prompted me to donate the first time. After hearing about them, I decided to donate as soon as my hair grew out. Now I alternate short cuts and long cuts. As soon as my hair grows out enough, I chop & donate again, and start the cycle over again. Love it, and will do it again next go 'round in about 3 years! Or 2 if my hair grows fast enough!"
Isn't that so great? Nice work Beth :)

I am getting closer to setting an actual chop date for my own hair. I'm pretty sure I walk into work almost every day and ask someone to take a pair of scissors to my hair. It's so much to handle and it makes me so HOT with this weather! Will be setting a date sometime in early August to donate, so stay tuned. Then, I think I will follow in Beth's footsteps and just grow it out all over again.

Have a great weekend!

Be the change. Make the difference.

  3. I really like the subtle CHANGE and flavor you have made to your 'Make the Difference'. . . I look forward to embracing new ways to make a difference. However, I will live vicariously through you and the Locks of Love August trim. . . Smile! (It would take the rest of my life to grow, save, cut, share.). Congratulations to your friend . . . someone is going to love having some curls back!
