the big chop.

sooo...my hair is gone! Tonight, my cousin Leah and I went to Engedi Salon in Holland to donate our hair to Locks of Love

Me Before
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Leah Before
I decided I wanted to grow mine out to donate it about two years ago...and Leah decided to join in the fun too :) We were both super nervous about it because we have been growing it out for so long now.

When we got to the salon, neither of us really wanted to go first. But, I knew I would have just sat there and gotten more and more nervous waiting for my turn if I didn't get it over with first. So here's how it works:

First, they put your hair in pig tails. And then, they cut them off. Or in Leah's case, saw them off. And then it's done! Of course our wonderful stylist Katie does some magic and makes it a little prettier :)

And then we take our pony tails and send them to locks of love, where they make great wigs for kids in need. Easy as that!

I took exactly 10 inches off, so my hair was still a little longer afterward. Leah does not mess around. She went all out and took off 11 inches! Isn't she great?!

I think we both feel a little naked now that we lost 17 pounds of hair each. But I think they turned out great! What do you think?

SO so short! This will take some getting used to!

If you or anyone you know want to donate your hair, check out Locks of Love to make a donation. Time to start growing it out again for round three :)

Be the change. Make the difference.
