The Ronald McDonald House Charities has three main ways that they help keep families stable while they go through a medical emergency. The first, as I talked about already is the actual Ronald McDonald House. The next part of what the RMHC does is provide hospitals with a Family Room.
Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal faster and cope better. That's why they created Ronald McDonald Family Rooms. These rooms are often located near the pediatric or intensive care unit in a hospital, and allow space for rest and regrouping. Right now, they have 167 Family Rooms.
These rooms vary from location to location, but most will have a kitchen area, showers, sleeping rooms, laundry facilities, internet access, books for reference, a TV and sitting area and a quiet room. All of these things give families a nice, comfortable area to relax in while still being able to be near their child.
